  • SERB INJURED IN MINE BLAST IN UN-RULED KOSOVO-METOHIJA

    (Tanjug, 6. 7. 2001.)

Kosovska Mitrovica - A Serb was injured early on Friday when his tractor hit a land mine planted by ethnic Albanian terrorists in a village road in the UN-ruled Serbian (Yugoslav) Kosovo-Metohija province. Srdjan Jevtic, aged 30, from Priluzje village in the Vucitrn area, has been hospitalised, and his life is not in danger, although he has shrapnel lacerations all over his body, Kosovska Mitrovica Hospital Director Milan Ivanovic told Tanjug.

DIVISION OF KOSOVO-METOHIJA MIGHT BE CONSIDERED - UNMIK OFFICIAL

    (Tanjug, 6. 7. 2001.)

Kosovska Mitrovica - The UN Kosovo Mission (UNMIK) has no mandate to carve up Kosovo-Metohija or decide its final status, but it is open to discussion about an ethnic division, according to an UNMIK official on Friday. A division of the UN-ruled Serbian (Yugoslav) province into entities or cantons would exceed UNMIK's mandate or that of the UN Secretary-General, according to UNMIK deputy chief Gerard Fischer. However, if the UN Security Council were to uphold such a concept and amend Resolution 1244, then the matter might be given consideration, Fischer told a local Serb radio in divided Kosovska Mitrovica.

SERBS BLOCK ROAD AT KOSOVO-METOHIJA'S LEPOSAVIC

    (Tanjug, 6. 7. 2001.)

Kosovska Mitrovica - Serbs in Leposavic, Kosovo-Metohija, mounted a roadblock to central Serbia (Yugoslavia) on Friday to prevent the UN Mission UNMIK collecting taxes on goods brought into this UN-ruled Serbian province from central Serbia. "The blockade was mounted at noon between the Serb police checkpoint at Rudnica and the (international Kosovo force) KFor checkpoint at Donje Jarinje", Marko Jaksic of the Northern Kosovo Defence Committee and Serbian MP, told Tanjug.
