  • Ethnic Albanians refuse to sign ceasefore declaration

    (Tanjug, 5. 5. 2001.)

Bujanovac - Head of the state coordination team for southern Serbia Nebojsa Covic said here on Saturday that the talks with the ethnic Albanian negotiating team, which had started on Friday, did not resume on Saturday because the latter refused to sign a declaration on the cessation of hostilities and a document on the restoration of security and peace in the Lucane and Turija villages. "We signed both documents during yesterday's talks," Covic told a press conference and added that both the declaration and the document were very good and constructive.Neither we nor the ethnic Albanian community representatives have made the declaration or the document, Covic said."We believe that both the declaration and the document are in accordance with our plan and program and parts of the ethnic Albanian community platform," he said.
