BELGRADE, Jan. 31, 2005 (BETA) - Serbia-Montenegro Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic said on Jan. 31 that the solution for Kosovo lied somewhere between an unusually high degree of autonomy and independence, but not independence.

Prior to a meeting with EU officials in Brussels on Feb. 1, Draskovic also said that any solution for Kosovo needed to honor the U.N. Charter, guarantee the highest degree of autonomy for the Serb people and not deny the Albanian people their legitimate rights.

Draskovic, who is scheduled to attend a prayer breakfast in the U.S.after visiting Brussels, announced that his "key concern" in talks with top U.S. officials in the Congress, Senate and State Department would be Kosovo and that he would insist again that no state could be legally created on Serbian territory.
