Beijing expresses support to Serbia-Montenegro's integrity
BETA
February 23, 2005
BEIJING, Feb. 22, 2005 (BETA) - Serbian President Boris Tadic said in Beijing on Tuesday that China fully supported the U.N. Security Council's Resolution 1244 on Kosovo and the territorial integrity of Serbia-Montenegro.
"China is sharing our stand that, according to Resolution 1244, Kosovo and Metohija is an integral part of Serbia-Montenegro. It cannot be allowed that legitimate state and national interests in Kosovo and Metohija are denied. That was my statement, and I received support for it," Tadic said after a meeting with the vice-president of China, Zeng Qinghong.
According to Tadic, China 's representative in international institutions said he was against Kosovo obtaining an international phone dialing code because, as he explained, this would represent a prediction of independence for the province.
