Belgrade, 22 Feb (B92) - Serbia and Montenegro ministry council has reached a decision for the narrowing of the border zone towards Republic of Macedonia.
This decision has been confirmed by the Coordination Body for South Serbia. This decision reduces the border safety zone from 5 kilometers down to 300 meters. This decision has been published in the official military list which came out on the 10th of February of 2005, which means it has been moved in force from the following day.
This was one of the demands of the Albanians from South Serbia. They made this demand because a lot of them have land in the safety zone or have properties which overlap Serbia into Macedonia. This demand became more important after the recent killing of a teenager on the border with Macedonia. (FoNet)
