BELGRADE -- Tuesday - The UN Charter presents a key argument for Serbia-Montenegro in discussions of the final status of Kosovo, Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic said today.
Draskovic told B92 that under the UN Charter there is no legal way for the territory of one state to be proclaimed the territory of another against the wishes of the first state.
"Serbia-Montenegro is against its territory being used to form a new state," he added.
"Under the Charter of the United Nations is not possible in any legal way, except by force, for a state to proclaim sovereignty over the territory of another state if that state is against it," he said.
Draskovic told B92 that the solution lies in accepting European standards which, he said, is a view being increasingly accepted by the international community.
