Jeton (Isuf) Mulaj, born Dec 1981.g.

PRISTINA, 4. maja (Tanjug, KIMInfo) - Kosovo policed issued a warrant for JETON (ISUF) MALAJ, an ethnic Albanian who is suspected for taking part in the rocket attack on Visoki Decani Monastery on March 30, 2007. In the statement which has been distributed to the media by Kosovo Police Service today it is said that early in the morning at 2.00 a.m. according to the prosecutor's warrant the police searched the house of the suspect in the village of Istinic/Isnic near Decani but did not find him at home. The police investigation found proofs that Mulaj was involved in the attack on Visoki Decani Monastery on March 30.

The gathered proofs, among which are the shell of the fired anti-tank rocket and the rocket launcher which was found on the nearby hill were analysed in the police laboratory and have offered additional proofs in identification of the suspected persons of Kosovo Albanian ethnic origin. Jeton Mulaj was born on December 1981 in Istinic, Decani Municipality.

The further investigation has to show who are the other accomplices of the suspect and to discover the criminal network to which they belong because on the territory of Decani Municipality there are paramilitary groups which seriously endanger the safety of the citizens.

Kosovo police which is searching for Mulaj has informed the public that all who may have an information about his present whereabouts should inform the nearest police station. The police can be contacted on numbers: 112 (Kosovo Alcatel mobile network) and the PTK line +381 38 504604 - 6666 or on the e-mail address: info@kosovopolice.com

The anti-tank rocket was fired from the hand held launcher early in the morning of March 30 and hit the outer Monastery wall damaging the roof on the 1.5 thick wall. The shell of the grenade was found the same day in the afternoon when the monks saw the damage on the wall. The attack on the Monastery was strongly condemned by the Serbian authorities, Kosovo institutions and the international offices and organizations including the UNESCO Secretary General Koichiro Matsuura. In the meantime KFOR has increased the security around the monastery

This was the fourth armed attack on Visoki Decani Monastery since 1999. and the deployment of the UN/NATO peace mission in Kosovo. In previous attacks there was no investigation and this was the first time that the Police launched a seriuos investigation in order to find the attackers on this valuable monument of the Serbian Orthodox Church - the part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.
